Subaru of Ann Arbor

Role: Writer, Director, Editor, Title Designer, Sound Designer
The Challenge: Subaru of Ann Arbor needed more than a showcase of the Forester’s large infotainment screen—they wanted a spot that highlighted this feature without sliding into a sterile product demo, and to position themselves as a modern and inclusive dealership.
The Process: I wrote a story that was framed through a day-in-the-life narrative of an LGBTQ+ couple, weaving the infotainment screen naturally into their interactions. From framing choices to pacing, every decision was designed to balance cinematic storytelling with product clarity. The editing leaned into warmth and rhythm, reinforcing the couple’s chemistry while spotlighting the screen’s functionality.
The Results: The finished commercial elevated Subaru of Ann Arbor’s brand presence, and I secured a Silver Telly Award for Best Directing. The spot strengthened the dealership’s reputation as a business that celebrates inclusion and forward-thinking values. The spot proved that a local commercial could play on a national level of craft and move cars off the lot.
